Laura Marling

23 11 2010
It was nice to see Laura Marling at the Wedgewood rooms last night.  I have never been a big fan, but she converted me last night.

She has an amazing, mature  and powerful voice that draws you in to her lyrical world of romance and lost loves.  Not bad for someone that can only be about 20.

One of the things that Portsmouth does well is appreciative audiences, and this one was particularly good.  I have never heard it so quiet in the Wedgewood Rooms (except for the really annoying couple stood behind us until we moved), and each song was greeted with a round of applause, and each comment between each song was greeted with the appropriate response of laughter.

Before I probably wouldn’t have gone out of my way to see Laura Marling at a festival, but I probably would now.

The support band wasn’t too bad either, they are called the Pins.
