Review of 2009

4 01 2010
I have been neglecting this blog for a while and concentrating on my photo blog, which I really enjoy doing.

So to kick off this year, I thought that I would do a kind of review of the year for 2009.  I don’t think I am doing a Spex awar this year, mainly because I can’t be bothered.  I am getting Lazy I think.

January started off with New Year in the most random pub in the world and a trip to a brewery for May-Z’s birthday, and then not a great deal happened, until February when I started going to Gigs again, Iglu and Hartley was the first of the year.

In March, not a lot happened again, but I saw a couple more bands.  April was great though, I met the wonderful H and we had a lot of fun.  I also formed the Victorian Gentlemans Amaretto Drinking Club (Fingers Up) in a pub in Worcester and went to Thorpe Park for the first time that year.

May was pretty good, my birthday was superb, we had a lot of fun, and then I went on Safari, this took me until mid June and was one of the most amazing things that I have ever done.  June came and went with more gigs and a trip to the Isle of Wight.  July flew past with Mark Cavendish winning 6 stages of the Tour De France and the Ashes starting.

August saw the completion of the Ashes, with England victorious, me failing to walk the Southdowns Way because of injury.  September included Bestival, which was superb, (Elbow were sublime) and Love Albert Road Day which was good too.

October was my month of blogging and to be honest it is some of the worst things ever written, I did start taking a lot of photos though.  In November I saw the Flaming Lips, which was about the only thing I did that month.

December flew past, with ATP and christmas, and I cooked for H on New Years Eve.

All in all, not a bad year.

Dammit

12 10 2009

I know that I was supposed to be blogging everyday this month, and I aslo know that I didn’t yesterday.  But I was busy.  I was at Thorpe Park.

We went on loads of rides, including Saw 3 thimes, Nemesis 4 times and Colussus 3 times.  I reckon that we were upside down about 60 times yesterday.

Anyway.  Busy.  But there you go.

Thorpe Park

23 04 2009

I had taken the day off on Tuesday to head to Thorpe Park with The Housemate and the Flat 6 Boys, so off we headed early, only for our cunning plan to get there before the crowds to suffer a blow half way there. The Housemates Mid-life crisis mobile was struck with a double puncture whilst trying to avoid being hit by a lorry. Still could have been worse, could have been struck by a lorry. But the weather was good , and while we replaced one of the wheels, we had an hour to wait for the AA man who then replaced the other one.

Once we did eventually get to the park, it was really very quiet, we headed straight for Stealth, which takes you from 0-80 in 2 seconds. I have never felt acceleratioon like it, it was quite spectacular and an amazing start to the day.

Next up as it was getting a bit warm we got completely drenched on Tidal Wave, before going on the spin dryer that is Nemesis Inferno, and then to the worlds first 10 loop coaster, Colussus.

The best ride of the day though, and the best ride that I have ever been on was the new ride for this year, Saw. Its themed after the film series Saw, and without giving too much away, there is an unexpected indoor section, before you get to the big draw. The 100ft vertical lift, followed by a 100 degree drop. Yep, you actually go down hill upside down, before twisting, turning and looping your way back to the start. Even the fact that we had to queue for an hour didn’t stop this from being immense.

Afterwards we had another go on the Stealth, Nemesis Inferno and Colussus, before making the trip back home. Even though we didnt get there until late, what we did do was well worth the money.
